On September 25, our journalism class went to Disneyland's Leadership Program in the Disneyland park. Walt Disney was a huge leader and Disneyland wanted to teach the young about this. We learned about the "four C's" which are courage, constancy, confidence, and curiosity. Walt Disney used all these traits when building Disneyland. Setting goals and learning to achieve our dreams were all set in this class. While roaming the park we used the setting to bond and working on teamwork. When we went on a ride called the Haunted Mansion. While on the ride we had to ask our partner questions about themselves. It was very hard to do when loud music was playing, ghost were flying everywhere, and you could barely see a thing. Our Leadership Guide brought us to the front of the line of Splash Mountain, my favorite ride, to end the class perfectly. Over all, a Friday spent well!

One rare baby Javan rhino was caught in a video footage. There are about 60 Javan rhinos left on the earth today. The population has doubled in the last 50 years. This critical species of Indonesia's Ujung Kulon National Park have a very tiny population because of poaching and habitat loss. Vietnam poachers killed the last of their countries rhinos in 2010. The footage of the baby might give scientists hope that the rhinos are reproducing in the wild. Female rhinos usually only give birth to one calf every 3 to 5 years. Lets hope that this is a for sure sign that these extraordinary rhinos are no longer endangered. http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2014/06/13/sports/worldcup/world-cup-balls.html
The earliest soccer balls were never round and were hand sewn. Before each match team captains would chose a ball to play with. In one Uruguay and Argentina game, neither captains could decide one what ball to kick off with. It ended up becoming a "you take one, I take one" situation where Uruguay's used there preferred ball in the first half and Argentina's in the second. The worlds first balls heavy lace leather balls were particularly painful. The older balls had vertical stripes, almost resembling the volleyball. Easier to head, new balls are now softer and less painful. In the 1970 world cup manufactures made the soccer balls for TV. The balls black and white design improved visibility on black and white sets. Adidas has provided a ball for every tournament since 1970. The newest balls now are heat sealed with fewer panels. The newest ball for the world cup 2014, called the Brazuca, has gone through many testings in advance from the 2014 world cup. http://www.latimes.com/sports/sportsnow/la-sp-sn-rainout-angels-wild-card-chances-20150921-story.html
Andrew Heaney leads the Angels as there star pitcher. The Angels cannot afford to lose the series because of rain. The Astros lead the Angels 2 1/2 games for the final wildcard spot in the American league. If the Angels lose the series it would put them 3 1/2 back with the Astros. That has the possibility of the Minnesota Twins and the Cleveland Indians could pass them in the standing. Heaney was supposed to start last Friday but the game was rained out. The game was delayed to Saturday. Is that rained out day reduced the wild card chances? http://www.cnn.com/2015/09/16/travel/kayakers-nearly-crushed-by-whale-irpt/index.html
A giant humpback whale nearly crushes kayaks on the central coast in California. There is a high number of humpback whale and other marine animals. This can cause a high risk for kayakers and any other people that experience the ocean water. They were tourists from the united kingdom that were paddling a pod of whales and got knocked from underwater. Sean Furey, a guide for Monterrey Bay Kayaks, was with the group when it happened. Furey made a decision to suspend his whale watching tours. Furey told CNN, "Wev've talked to some biologists and we feel its probably affecting the health of the whales, we just want to make sure that the whales are safe out there andkeep everyone safe here." http://www.cnn.com/2015/09/13/travel/sand-hotels-netherlands/index.html

A new species of geckos were found! The leaf-tailed geckos were found at Cape Mellvile's rain forest. This gecko is much different from its relatives. The leaf-tailed gecko has much larger legs for scrambling around rocks. Also it has larger and bolder eyes that help with seeing around in the darkness. These exquisite geckos are about 8 inches in length. During the day these geckos hide amoung rocks and at night they emerge from hiding to hunt in trees and rocks. An expert on reptiles and frogs, Conrad Hoskin, was hiking through the rainforest at night. He spotted the reflection of the geckos eyes.
